Here is the menu and links for recipes from the recent Big Beer Tasting at the Gingerman. This food works well with dark, strong beers (and can be served cold when it is hot outside).

  1. I was surprised and highly impressed by the food offering. It takes a confident chef to pair 7 beers wih original food, all in 100F sun. Well, it worked. I don’t like spinach, but I ate the entire spinach terrine. Lovely. The melon soup was an original and refreshing change up from an obvious gazpacho opportunity. The beef fit the beer pairing and was thinly sliced.. The chicken (semi) aspic held up in the sun and maintained its composure on unwilted lettuce. Delightful. A chocolate cake demi-slice unmelted in the heat and brimming with dark goodness. Yum!

    It is always tempting for a chef to lay on the salt and fat, but not in this case. Filled and refreshed, I still had room for a closing beer!
